Snow last night, my black and white dog
insane in her delight, runs wide circles
as hail bounces off my face.

A train rumbles by overhead.  The underpass covered
in graffiti. A timeless kind of communiqué:
the Visigoths wrote on slate,

and the Anglo-Saxons used gall, nuts, and wine
to fill horns with ink to create
this kind of frescoed conversation.

Carved in town squares with awls and pumice
like this covered passage where mattress
fortresses create individual bedrooms,

stacked reusable coffee cups plead for offerings.

originally published in diSONARE 9 –diSONARE is born out of the concept of dissonance, referencing the complexities that feed art & writing in their diverse genres and practices. We are an experimental editorial platform from Mexico City focusing on hybrid art processes in the intersection between poetry and art, as well as translations, fiction and criticism. An independent project run by a small editorial group, we publish an annual bilingual journal, organize readings and performances in Mexico and abroad, and develop various projects related to sound, performance, independent publishing, radio and activism. diSONARE is interested in building cross-cultural collaborations and promoting alternative ways of thinking about publishing as an experimental catalyst.

Grafitti – a colorful statement of politics, hate and crude erotics.
Like the cover of the Stones-LP “beggar’s banquet”.

Isn’t it silly – those words are written on the wall for decades.
Even in the era of electronic media.

A spontaneous reply while hearing the song “the wanderer” (U2 feat. Johnny Cash)

Best greetings to Berlin by Helfried
